Śrī Vyāsarāja Maṭha is popularly known as Munitraya (मुनित्रय) Matha —’the triad of sages’, one of the premier Dvaita Vedanta monasteries (matha) descending from Hamsanāmaka Bhagavanta, followed by SanakādigaLu, Dūrvāsaru, Jagadguru Śrī Madhvācārya (incarnation of Shri Vaayu), Śrī Jayatīrtha through Śrī Rajendratīrtha. Śrī Vyāsarāja Maṭha is the unique pīṭha that has been adorned by Munitrayaru as mentioned in the following shloka:
śrī madhvaḥ kalpavr̥kśaśca jayāryaḥ kāmadhuk smr̥taḥ | cintāmaṇistu vyāsāryaḥ munitrayamudāhr̥tam ||
Śrī Vyāsarāja Maṭha is uniquely identified with its contribution towards various scholarly compositions on Dvaita philosophy based on Vedic science as well as service to the nation and society.
Śrī Vyāsatīrtha, the scholar of Tattvavāda is held in high esteem only next to Śrī Jayatīrtha. His fundamental work has been to write detailed commentaries on the works of Śrīmad Anandatirtha and Śrī Jayatīrtha, and to show Tattvavāda as being placed on a firm logical footing. His work is considered to be of the highest significance, particularly because it is accepted even by his opponents that his understanding of their schools is second to none. Śrī Vyāsatīrtha also keeps a tempo that is hard for the less skilled to even conceive of, let alone match. His logic is exceptionally hard to beat, because of his uncanny knack of knowing exactly what the opponent is going to say, and using this information to lead the opponent into traps of logic that are many steps deep, and impossible to work through or around.
